Cinematheque Celebrates Godard Legacy with Special Guest Fabrice Aragno (Oct. 10 & 11)
“The reason why I work in cinema is because of the opening sequence of Antonioni’s L’eclisse. When I saw it the first time, I thought that if cinema can express this, then it could be a place for me. A place for silences, a place to express things that could not been said in words, like in music, or painting.” – Fabrice Aragno, (“Beauty in the Defects: An Interview with Fabrice Aragno,” MUBI Notebook)
The Cinematheque has been hosting a year-long retrospective on the work of French auteur Jean-Luc Godard with its series JLG Forever. On Oct.10 and 11, the program will feature a special guest: Fabrice Aragno, a frequent collaborator and the director of photography on several of Godard’s films, including Notre musique, Film Socialisme, Goodbye to Language, The Image Book, and the short film Les trois désastres. Aragno will introduce select screenings and participate in post-film discussions, sharing his experiences working alongside the legendary filmmaker.
