Cirque du Soleil Comes to Town with Spectacular ECHO (Oct. 9 – Jan. 5, 2025)
This week, Cirque du Soleil is settling in Under the Big Top for an extended run in Vancouver. Like all great traveling circuses, the company brings its own mobile village on the road to accommodate the cast and crew for their new show, ECHO. The production features 52 performers hailing from 19 different countries. Plot and process intertwine in a Cirque spectacle, and ECHO’s theme revolves around The CUBE, a set piece centre-stage that acts as a focal point for a wide range of acrobatics and theatrics. ECHO author-director Mukhtar Omar Sharif Mukhtar says The CUBE can be many things. “It could represent the world or the planet, but it’s really a symbol. The more we take away from it, the emptier it becomes, and the more we put into it, the fuller it becomes. That’s what I would love for people to see when they see this.” ECHO is making itself at home under the Grand Chapiteau at Concord Pacific Place, 1095 West Pender Street, through Christmas and New Year’s 2025.
