Fairmont Hosts Taschen Author Series Launch with Jessica Hundley (June 19)
Vancouver’s Fairmont Pacific Rim is hosting the inaugural launch of its Taschen Author Event series on Wednesday, June 19, at 5 p.m., featuring creative director, writer, and producer Jessica Hundley. The Fairmont’s Taschen Library is one of only two retail locations in Canada devoted to Taschen publications. The event opens with a discussion in the Discovery Theatre followed by a three-course dinner in the Botanist restaurant with the guest of honour. Currently, the editor of Taschen’s multivolume Library of Esoterica series, Hundley’s CV is long and illustrious – an extensive body of work with a lot of focus on music and film, particularly centred around Los Angeles. As a journalist, she has written for Vogue, Rolling Stone, and The New York Times, among other publications. Her books include studies on Dennis Hopper (Dennis Hopper. Photographs 1961-1967; The Lost Movie restoration project), David Lynch (Beyond The Beyond: The Music of David Lynch), and Gram Parsons (Grievous Angel: The Intimate Biography of Gram Parsons) as well as editing photography collections on Bob Dylan, John and Yoko, Andee Nathanson (“Andee Eye” monograph on LA photographer’s work from 1965-1978) and women surfers (Women Making Waves: Trailblazing Surfers In and Out of the Water). As a creative director, Hundley has been responsible for several marketing campaigns for a wide range of clients, including entertainer John Legend, Ace Hotel Palm Springs, and VW.
