Nikkei Garden Farmers Market Showcases Japanese Culture (Aug. 25)

The Nikkei Garden Farmers Market takes place bi-weekly on the second and fourth Sundays of each month through October at the Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre at 6688 Southoaks Crescent in Burnaby. On Aug. 25, over 30 vendors will showcase their unique local produce, foods, and crafts “with a Japanese touch” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Featured vendors include Franklin Food Lab, Brave Child Farm, Artisan Sakemaker at Granville Island, and Moxie Mushrooms. At 1 p.m., curators Makiko Hara and Sherri Shinobu will lead a gallery tour of the current exhibit, Woven: Setsuko Piroche’s Wonderland. The contemporary Hawaiian hula dance troupe Wailele Wai Wai will perform at noon.
