Polygon Gallery Extends Must-See Velvet Terrorism Show Until June 9
Polygon Gallery has extended its brilliant must-see show, Velvet Terrorism: Pussy Riot’s Russia, through Sunday, June 9. The first survey exhibition of the fearless feminist art collective Pussy Riot features extensive archival documentation of the group’s performances and street activism since the group’s beginning in 2011. The difficulties and hardships they faced daily in Putin’s repressive Russia are documented through photographs, videos, audio, text, and artwork that member Maria (Masha) Alyokhina has assembled over the years. A closing celebration will take place in the gallery tonight, Thursday, June 6, from 6 to 9 p.m. with music by Paisley Eva.
