The Richmond Maritime Festival returns this weekend, celebrating Steveston’s rich nautical heritage with a free, two-day multicultural event on Aug. 24 and 25 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Visitors can enjoy live music performances, interactive shows, and historical and artisanal exhibits and workshops, all set within the historic Britannia Shipyards. Once a major hub of canneries, boatyards, and homes at the southern mouth of the Fraser River, this National Historic Site has preserved its 19th-century charm, with heritage buildings perched on pilings and connected by wooden boardwalks. Visit the website for a full list of performers and artisans attending the festival.
