Social Tango Opens DanceHouse Season at the Playhouse (Oct. 24 – 26)

In collaboration with the Vancouver Latin American Cultural Centre and as part of Latin American Heritage Month, DanceHouse is presenting the Vancouver debut of Buenos Aires choreographer Agustina Videla’s Social Tango at the Vancouver Playhouse, Oct. 24 – 26 at 8 p.m. The performance blends choreography developed in Videla’s Social Tango Project with a musical performance and film projections from the documentary work of Argentine filmmaker Nora Lezano. The season premiere will include pre-show talks at 7:15 p.m. each night, featuring Videla in conversation with Vancouver Latin American Cultural Centre executive director Lili Vieira de Carvalho. Post-show community milongas (tango dance parties) follow Thursday and Saturday’s performances, with a post-show reception scheduled following Friday’s performance in the Salon.
