Vancity Theatre Showcases New Technology in Total Cinema Series (Aug. 17 – Sept. 20)

After an eight-week closure to upgrade its system, the VIFF Centre’s Vancity Theatre showcases its newly installed big screen, 4K laser projection and Dolby Atmos immersive sound system, with the Total Cinema series from Aug. 17 to Sept. 20. The series, highlighting classic movies chosen for their use of Sound, Colour and Spectacle, opens with David Lean’s 1962 desert epic Lawrence of Arabia, starring Peter O’Toole on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 1:30 p.m. Other films to be shown include Bernardo Bertolucci’s The Last Emperor, Alfonso Cuaron’s Roma, and a new 4K restoration of Jonathan Demme’s Talking Heads documentary Stop Making Sense.
