East Van Arts Fest Creates Immersive Neighbourly Experience (July 22 – 28)
The CREATE! Eastside Arts Festival expands this year into a full-week, district-wide vehicle for artistic expression from July 22 to 28. Eastside Arts District (EAD) studios, breweries, and performance venues will open their doors for ticketed art workshops and events during the festival, which will also feature all-day outdoor activities at Strathcona Park. Among the highlights this year are pop-up art workshops at Off the Rail Brewing, Luppolo Brewing, and Strange Fellows Brewing from July 22 to 26 and studio art workshops at 1000 Parker Street, The Mergatroid Building, and The Arts Factory on July 28. Musical performances will include Paul Pigat at the Firehall Arts Centre on July 25 and Art Bergmann at the Rickshaw Theatre on July 26. Mascall Dance will perform a neighbourly roving piano and dance piece on July 26, while Eastside Culture Crawl co-founder Richard Tetrault will create a live mural painting at E. 4th Ave. and Ontario St. from July 22 to 26. The ninth annual Art! Bike! Beer! Crawl takes place on Saturday, July 27, from 1 to 5 p.m. The fundraising tour starts off at Strathcona Park and features four stops during the afternoon beer and art crawl.
