Canadian singer-songwriter Feist brings her “Multitudes Finale Tour” to Vancouver for a three-night stand at the Commodore Ballroom next week. Shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize as Best Canadian Album in 2023, the “Multitudes” recording was also nominated for a Grammy Award. Pitchfork Magazine raves that Feist’s live multimedia show was one of the best things they saw on stage anywhere last year.

The indie sensation calls this leg of the tour a ‘finale,’ and she means it as the Commodore shows will be the last chance for Vancouverites to see the multimedia production. After her current Canadian dates, Feist is joining Sarah McLachlan in May as the opening act on an American tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of the latter’s classic album “Fumbling Towards Ecstasy.”

Lunar New Year Celebrations Launch the Year of the Dragon (Feb. 10 and 11)

Year of the Dragon Lunar New Year celebrations begin on Feb. 10, with festivities planned throughout the Lower Mainland. The Chinese Canadian Museum is hosting events on both Feb. 10 and 11 that include tours of their historic building, calligraphy demonstrations, and printmaking activities. On Feb. 11, the Chinatown Spring Festival Parade begins at the Millennium Gate at 11 a.m.

The annual procession will feature dance troupes, dignitaries, marching bands, and lion dance teams among participants from over 70 cultural groups. For the 50th anniversary of the Lunar New Year parade in Chinatown, more than 100,000 people are expected to line the streets along the 1.3-kilometre route. Following the parade, a Vancouver Chinatown Spring Festival Fair and Spring Festival Celebration Gala Dinner are scheduled to round out the day.

Award-winning Bunny Turns the Tables at the Anvil Theatre (Feb. 9 to 18)

Emma Slipp stars in “Bunny,” a modern deconstruction of Victorian mores that opens this weekend at The Anvil Theatre in New Westminster. Think of a dramatic, romantic comedy where Jane Austen’s Bennet Sisters meet Gillian Anderson’s Sex Education guru in a canoe far from any patriarchal shore. Onstage for the entire 90-minute play, Slipp won a Jessie Award for her edgy performance in the original 2022 production, and she returns for a remount of the Hannah Moscovitch play. The Search Party production, recommended for mature audiences, also received Jessie Awards for best production, direction, and costume design.
