Daniel Lapp Quartet Celebrates Iconic “My Funny Valentine” Sessions, Feb. 15-16
Seventy years after West Coast jazz legend Chet Baker laid down the tracks for his seminal vocal debut, “Chet Baker Sings,” on February 15, 1954, trumpeter/fiddler Daniel Lapp will honour the milestone with his quartet. He’ll be bringing Baker’s iconic session back to life at the Kay Meek Arts Centre on Feb. 15 and 16. Renowned for his intense, emotional take on classics such as ‘My Funny Valentine,’ Baker’s soulful music has greatly impacted later generations. Lapp and his ensemble will cover the entire album and add a selection of other pieces, paying homage to Baker’s lasting legacy.

Answer to fun fact:
What material in the average 2,500 sq. ft. home weighs 6,560 pounds and costs approximately $3,000?
Answer: Drywall.
A typical 2,500 sq. ft. home uses 4,100 sq. ft. of drywall (128 sheets). 1/2″ thick sheets weigh 48 pounds each, that’s 2,975 kilograms (6,560 pounds).
FYI, the $3,000 cost does not include installation unless you do it yourself 🔨.
Putting that into perspective, hippos weigh 2,975+ kilograms. IMO, I would’ve never guessed that a hippo weighs as much as all the drywall in a 2,500 sq ft home.
