Le Centre culturel francophone de Vancouver hosts the 35th annual Festival d’été June 13 – 22 at various Lower Mainland venues. Bilingual Vancouver quintet Mimosa opens the French-language fest at Studio 16 on June 13 at 7:30 p.m. The group combines jazz, Brazilian sambas, ‘60s French pop, and cabaret music to create their own unique sound. Many other shows are lined up for the French-language fest including a dynamic double bill featuring popular Quebec bands Bleu Jeans Bleu and Clay and Friends which is scheduled for the Vogue Theatre on June 15 at 6 p.m. Tickets for all shows are available on Le Centre’s website. Over in North Vancouver’s Civic Plaza, a sensational free event on June 22 at 1 p.m. will spotlight oud player and singer Lamia Yared. She’ll be joined by Montreal-based cellist Sheila Hannigan, percussionist Hamin Honari, clarinetist François Houle, and Gordon Grdina, who doubles on guitar and oud.
