Compañía Marco Flores Makes Canadian Debut at Flamenco Fest (Sept. 12 – 22)

Flamenco Van — The Vancouver International Flamenco Festival features the Canadian debut of the Madrid-based company Compañía Marco Flores performing at the Vancouver Playhouse on Sept. 13 and 14. Illustration: BB

The Vancouver International Flamenco Festival presents performers from Spain, Taiwan, Cuba, Mexico, India, and Canada at various Vancouver venues from Sept. 12 to 22. The Madrid-based company Compañía Marco Flores, featuring guitarist José Tomás and vocalist José Valencia, makes its Canadian debut with performances at the Vancouver Playhouse on Sept. 13 and 14. Granville Island’s free Picnic Pavilion on Sept. 21 and 22 at 5:30 p.m. will showcase the work of BC flamenco artists, including Deborah Dawson, Flamenco Rosario, Iminah Kani, and Karen Flamenco. Spain’s Marco Flores will lead Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced dance classes at the Scotiabank Dance Centre on Sept. 15. For a complete schedule of events, visit vancouverflamencofestival.org.
