Opera Lirica Company Presenting Free Concerts and an Evening Salon (Aug. 10, 11 and 14)
The Opera Lirica music society is presenting two free concerts this weekend plus a ticketed evening salon on Aug. 14. On Saturday, Aug. 10 at 12:15 p.m., soprano Magdalena How and pianist Roger Parton will perform as part of the Marpole Neighbourhood House Summer BBQ. On Sunday, Aug. 11, at 2 p.m., a free concert takes place in Oak Park featuring mezzo-sopranos Taryn Plater and Yenny Lee, baritone Matthew Kim, tenor Gustave Richard, and pianist Roger Parton. The society will follow that up next Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 7 p.m. with baritone Yuhui Wang performing Chinese art songs in a ticketed event at Pyatt Hall. The evening concert will include a Q&A with the artist. Admission for The Old and The New: A Century of Chinese Art Songs is $25; free admission for seniors 65+, students with ID, and Aboriginal Peoples.
