Contemporary textile artist Maya Beaudry leads a Collage Party at North Vancouver’s Polygon Gallery on Thursday, Aug. 15 at 6:30 p.m. The event is inspired by the work of Tau Lewis who uses a wide variety of sculptural techniques in creating pieces with found, gathered, gifted, and recycled materials. The Brooklyn-based artist’s outdoor installation, Coloratura, currently on view, features a series of oversized flower vines that hang down from the Polygon’s roof. Lewis sought second-hand materials for the project that could withstand the weather, including vinyl movie posters, parachutes, boat sails, and firehoses. Admission is by donation, and an RSVP is required. Afterward, Deckchair Cinema on the gallery’s outdoor plaza will screen the Hong Kong action comedy Supercop, starring Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh. The film begins at approximately 8:30 p.m.
