Sea to Sky Gondola Turning 10 with Weekend of Fun Events Planned
The Sea to Sky Gondola has a full weekend of activities planned on May 11 and 12 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the destination aerial tramway and alpine adventure park. Eight-person gondolas with floor-to-ceiling glass windows take visitors on a 10-minute journey from the basecamp, situated two kilometres south of Squamish to Summit Lodge, 885 metres above sea level. The ride provides spectacular views of the Howe Sound area, including the Tantalus Range, Diamond Head, and Sky Pilot Mountain. Groomed hiking trails and the Sky Pilot Suspension Bridge extend the exploration of the area around the Summit Lodge.
The 10th anniversary weekend starts with a Sea to Summit Trail hike (rated intermediate/advanced with some steep and challenging sections) on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. Each day has a full slate of entertainment and activities planned for the entire family from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Squamish Connector offers round-trip shuttle service from downtown Vancouver to the Sea to Sky Gondola with pick-up and drop-off sites at several downtown locations.
