Silk Purse Launches Jazz Waves Series on the West Van Waterfront (July 11 – Aug. 24)

West Vancouver’s waterfront Silk Purse Arts Centre begins its annual summertime jazz series, Jazz Waves, this week. The facility, originally built as a summer cottage in 1925, sits on the beach west of Ambleside Park. The Hammond B3 funk jazz of the Jason de Couto Organ Trio will kick things off with a free outdoor concert on Thursday, July 11, at 6 p.m. featuring de Couto’s Hammond B3 Organ with Alvin Brendan on guitar and Nino DiPasquale on drums. Other Jazz Waves dates on the calendar are ticketed and include the Kristian Braathen Trio on Saturday, July 13 at 7:30 p.m., the Laura Crema Quintet on Saturday, July 20 at 7:30 p.m., Musical Breeze on Thursday, July 25 at 7:30 p.m. and the Tony Foster Trio on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 7:30 p.m.
