The Vagabond Players open their new season on Sept. 21 at the Bernie Legge Theatre in New Westminster’s Queens Park with Theresa Rebeck’s black comedy “Mauritius.” The longest-running community theatre group in BC first formed in 1922 and has been performing at its current location since 1950. Hall-of-fame acting legends who have worked with the Vagabond Players over the years include Dolores Kirkwood, Ed Harrington, Bruno Gerussi, Bernie Legge, and Raymond Burr. “Mauritius” runs Thursdays to Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. with preview performances on Sept. 19 and 20 and a gala opening night on Sept. 21. The rest of the society’s 2024-25 season offers a wide range of productions. The Jonathan Larson musical, “Tick, Tick…Boom,” is set for Nov. 28 to Dec. 15, Madhuri Shekar’s comedy “A Nice Indian Boy” runs from Feb. 13 to March 2, and Lauren Gunderson’s girl-powered comedy about the French Revolution, “The Revolutionists,” is on April 24 through May 11.
