Vancouver Film School Hosting TV Production Bootcamp with Emmy-Winning Director (July 5 – 7)
This weekend Vancouver Film School is hosting an In-Production Bootcamp, The Serious Business of Comedy, featuring Emmy-winning director Michael Spiller. An Ask Me Anything (AMA) talk with Spiller will take place on Friday, July 5, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in the VFS Main Theatre. All-day workshops set for July 6 and 7 at the VFS Film Campus, 142 Water Street, Studio 1, will feature comedic acting, writing, directing, and live performance. The bootcamp will cover industry topics such as what to expect in a writer’s room, an actor’s table read, on-set filmmaking, and other production scenarios. Spiller, a veteran of comedic television, got his start on the first season of HBO’s Sex and The City, and he began directing episodes in season two. During his career, he has directed more than 20 episodes of both Modern Family and Scrubs, as well as many other shows. He was also the executive producer/director for all six seasons of The Mindy Project. Register for the bootcamp online.
