Today marks the 23rd anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The Broadway musical “Come From Away” tells the true story of 6,500 stranded passengers and crew who doubled the population of Gander, Newfoundland, when their 38 planes were unexpectedly grounded during 9/11, 2001. Queen Elizabeth Theatre is hosting Broadway Across Canada’s timely production of “Come From Away” this week. Written by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, the musical chronicles the experiences of a town welcoming strangers during this dark time. The play opened on Broadway in 2017 and was an immediate box office and critical success, receiving seven Tony Award nominations. Recommended for ages 10 and older, the touring production runs through Sept. 15.
