The Vancouver Writers Fest returns to Granville Island from Oct. 21 to 27, celebrating literature with 120 authors participating in 88 events. The week will feature a variety of panel discussions and masterclasses, offering both in-person and livestream options for many sessions. The festival kicks off with a grand opening event, Finding Joy in Turmoil, on Monday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m. at the Vancouver Playhouse. The evening will include readings and original works from a lineup of award-winning authors, including Elamin Abdelmahmoud, Sadiya Ansari, Roddy Doyle, Andrey Kurkov, Heather O’Neill, Bill Richardson, Tanya Talaga, Kim Thúy, and John Vaillant. While some sessions, like Rachel Kushner in Conversation with Alix Ohlin, are already sold out, there are still tickets available for many sessions.
