Tedeschi Trucks Band Shoots for the Moon on Deuces Wild Tour
Track of the Day:
Tedeschi Trucks Band – “Anyhow” (Live in Studio)
The husband and wife team of Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi bring their powerful big band to Vancouver on Saturday night for a show at the QE Theatre as part of the Deuces Wild tour. The 12-piece Tedeschi Trucks Band taps into a lot of history in their music, particularly the blues in all of its southern manifestations, mixing original material in with all of their beloved source material. Their catalog includes extensive tributes to other musicians (such as The Allman Brothers Band, Joe Cocker’s Mad Dogs and Englishmen, and Eric Clapton’s Derek and the Dominoes) as well as new material like their latest release, I Am the Moon, a quadruple album featuring 24 tracks. You can drop the needle anywhere on a TTB album and come up with something fine. We’ve chosen “Anyhow,” one of our favourites, recorded live in their Swamp Raga Studio eight years ago for the Let Me Get By sessions. It’s fun to geek out over guitar specs, comparing Gibsons to Strats, or different tuning styles, but at the end of the day, it’s the soulful sounds of TTB that pulls everything together.
