Tequila and Agave Fest Explores 225 Years of Tradition

Vancouver’s inaugural Tequila and Agave Festival is underway with several events planned for the closing weekend: Tequila 101 featuring Proximo Spirits and National Tequila Brand Ambassador James Bailey-Leon takes place at Taste of Legacy on Friday, May 24 at 6 p.m. Participants learn about the history of tequila and the flavour profiles of five tequila variants — Plata, Reposado, Añejo, Cristalino, and Extra Añejo Tequilas with selections from Jose Cuervo Tradicional Plata, 1800 Reposado, Gran Centenario Añejo, Maestro Dobel Diamante, and Reserva De La Familia Extra Añejo. A Trade & General Public Tasting showcasing agave spirit culture is scheduled for the Grand Ballroom at the Italian Cultural Centre on Saturday, May 25, starting at 4 p.m., followed by a Grand Tasting at 7 p.m. Tickets for each event are available on the Tequila and Agave Festival website.
