Massive Music Weekend Ahead, Starting with the Stones at BC Place
The first weekend of real summer kicks off with massive music options around Metro Vancouver: the Rolling Stones play BC Place on Friday night, the Khatsahlano Street Party takes over West 4th on Saturday, Carnaval del Sol is hosting a three-day Latin American festival in Mount Pleasant’s Jonathan Rogers Park, and Surrey sees the return of FVDED In The Park’s two-day electronic dance party.
Upcoming Events Guide: Live and Direct
The Rolling Stones, BC Place, July 5
Exactly 62 years ago this month the Rolling Stones played their first ever gig as “The Rolling Stones” on July 12, 1962 at London’s Marquee Jazz Club. They shared the bill with Long John Baldry, who moved to Vancouver in 1985 and used the city as his home base for the rest of his life. Former Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham also has deep Vancouver connections. He’s spent part of several years here, writing and working in local studios on music projects. He also taught a pop culture course, Rock Dreams, at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops for one winter semester in 2019. Could this be the last time the Stones play Vancouver?
